You know, there are just some questions that don’t have answers (at least not this side of Heaven). Have you ever been in a conversation with someone, telling them the Good News, when they suddenly asked a question you couldn’t answer?
What did you do?
Some people make up answers or try to talk their way off the topic. The best way to respond, however, is to simply say, “I don’t know.” Then, offer to try to find an answer for them and get back in touch when you have the answer in hand. This response produces an opportunity for you to learn and an opportunity for another encounter for sharing the Gospel.
Now, there are some questions that we cannot answer. Here’s an example: Several dear friends of ours have died early of cancer after standing strong and believing for healing. We cannot say for sure why they did not receive a miracle. What we determined to do is stand on the integrity of God’s Word. If the Bible says it, it is true, regardless of experiences, circumstances, or dissappointments.
Let that encourage you as you have opportunity to find answers for unbelievers. No one’s experience can negate the Word of God. A good thing to communicate with a person who’s question cannot be answered is that the bottom line is: “God knows the answer and that’s just another good reason to submit your life to Christ and be born-again; that way, one day you’ll get the chance to ask God yourself.”
